Hello, I am Su-Ling

Su-Ling is gorgeous Red Chinese Golden Pheasant that came to Planet Rehab in 2012.  Although recognized as one of the world's most beautiful birds, their song leaves a lot to be desired as they sound akin to two pieces of metal scraping back and forth.  Most of the year he is somewhat shy, but come spring time, he struts his stuff and spreads out the crest on his neck while dancing to try to impress the females!

Chinese Golden Pheasants were originally native to the base of mountains in China, near forests. Due to domestication, wild populations of Chinese Golden Pheasants can now be found all over the World. They are capable of flight, but they prefer running and staying on the ground. Their diet in the wild consists of grains, leaves, and invertebrates. At night they sleep on tree branches.
